About This Device
Cradlepoint's W-series wideband adapters are power-hungry by design — 5G modems, processing and (on outdoor models) environmental hardening add up to loads far beyond what a standard 15.4 W injector can feed. The 170827-000 is the matched source: a 90 W PoE injector specified for the W1850, W2000, W2005 and W4005 wideband adapters.
The electrical envelope is documented precisely: 54 to 57 V DC output, up to 1.60 A, 90 W maximum. That headroom is what lets a W-series unit boot, run its radios at full duty and survive cold-start surges over long Ethernet runs to rooftop and window mounts. Underpowering a 5G adapter with a lesser injector produces the worst kind of fault — intermittent resets under load that masquerade as carrier problems.
This SKU ships without a C13 line cord. That is a feature for fleet operators: the injector is region-neutral, and each site pairs it with the locally correct C13 cord — often already on hand in quantity, since C13 is the ubiquitous IT appliance cord. One injector part number then serves global W-series rollouts.
Deployment is the standard injector pattern: AC in via C13, data in from the network, power-plus-data out on the Ethernet run to the adapter. For the W2005 outdoor unit, combine with the 170823-000 cable gland to keep the run sealed at the far end. Genuine Cradlepoint accessory, MPN 170827-000, made in China, approximately 1.2 lb.
