Overview

The Ericsson Cradlepoint RX30-MC (MB-RX30-MC) is a compact, ruggedized managed accessory for the R1900 5G ruggedized router. It adds an MC400 modular modem slot for a second modem and carrier diversity, plus four GbE RJ45 ports that are LAN/WAN switchable. It accepts 9–36 VDC input, is IP64 rated, and carries E-Mark vehicle and EN 50155 rail certifications. The MC400 modem is sold separately.

The Ericsson Cradlepoint RX30-MC is built for R1900 deployments that need carrier diversity and more wired connections in the same vehicle, train or remote enclosure. It attaches to the R1900 5G ruggedized router and adds one MC400 modular modem slot, rated for 300 Mbps peak throughput. An MC400 modem, sold separately, installs in this slot as a second WAN path. The accessory also adds four GbE RJ45 ports that can be set as LAN or WAN, along with a 6-pin GPIO connector (2x3 Molex Micro-Fit, 3 mm locking type).

Power comes through a 6-pin (2x3) Molex Micro-Fit external connector across a 9–36 VDC input range. Reverse polarity and transient voltage protection meet ISO 7637-2. Vehicle installations require an in-line fuse: 10 A for 9–24 VDC or 5 A above 24 VDC. With an R1900-5GB at 12 V input, the combined system draws 21 W at idle, 27 W typical and 31 W under heavy load. The IP64 housing operates from -30 °C to 70 °C, and the calculated MTBF is 2,697,409 hours.

Certifications cover UL/cUL, CB Scheme, EN 60950-1 and EN 62368-1, E-Mark for vehicles, and EN 50155 Class S1 and EN 50121-3-2 for rail. It also meets MIL STD 810G and SAE J1455, plus WEEE, RoHS, REACH and California Prop 65 compliance. The box includes a 3-meter 2x3 GPIO and power cable, a small accessories kit and a mounting template. Activation requires an R1900 licensed to an Ericsson NetCloud Service plan. Cradlepoint hardware carries a limited lifetime warranty while that subscription remains active. A data sheet is available for this product.

Does the RX30-MC include a modem?

No. It provides one MC400 modular modem slot, and the modem is sold separately. Cradlepoint lists the MC400 5G modem (MB-MC400-5GB) and the MC400 LTE Advanced Pro modem (MA-MC400-1200M-B) as R1900 upgrades for use with the RX30-MC.

Which router does it work with?

Are the Ethernet ports PoE?
