About This Device
Outdoor enclosures are only as sealed as their most forgotten opening, and on the W1855 that is usually an unused Ethernet port. The 170887-000 is Ericsson's answer: a two-pack of port plugs shaped for the W1855's Ethernet openings, blanking them to maintain the adapter's ingress protection. Water finds unplugged ports through wind-driven rain and condensation cycles; insects find them sooner. The factory plugs seat to the housing's geometry, which tape and improvised stoppers never quite match. For fleet installs, they belong in every W1855 site kit - and in the spares bin for the day a port's cable is removed.
Most outdoor electronics failures start as water ingress at an opening nobody sealed - blanking plugs are the cheapest reliability upgrade on the BOM.
Press a plug into each unused Ethernet opening until it seats fully, and verify the used port's gland is dressed. Recheck seals whenever the port configuration changes.
Cloud Care Networks stocks the Cradlepoint 170887-000 alongside the gateways and routers it supports, so IT and field-service teams can consolidate antennas, spares, and replacement hardware on a single order.
