About This Device
An outdoor adapter's hardest sealing problem is the opening that cannot be blanked - the one its own Ethernet cable enters through. The 170888-000 solves it with a two-pack of cable glands engineered for the W1855: each gland compresses around the Ethernet jacket as it passes into the housing, sealing the entry against wind-driven rain, dust, and insects while the cable carries PoE power and 5G WAN data. Factory-fit geometry matters here; generic glands with the wrong bore either pinch the cable or leak at the jacket. On a mast in weather, this small part is what stands between the adapter's electronics and the rain following its own cable inside.
Water does not knock on outdoor housings - it follows cables through unsealed entries. Glands are the fix for the leak path that plugs cannot cover.
Slide the gland components over the Ethernet cable before terminating, pass the cable into the W1855's port, and tighten the gland to compress the seal around the jacket. Dress a drip loop below the entry as final insurance.
Cloud Care Networks stocks the Cradlepoint 170888-000 alongside the gateways and routers it supports, so IT and field-service teams can consolidate antennas, spares, and replacement hardware on a single order.
