About This Device
Magnetic antenna bases trade off footprint against stability: too small and a tall whip rocks in the wind; too large and the base dominates the roof. Panorama's Midi-Mag sits in the middle deliberately — a mid-size magnetic base with the holding area to steady practical whip elements at road speed while staying compact enough for unobtrusive placement. The MD-5SP variant pairs that base with 5 m of integrated coax terminated in an SMA male plug.
The cable spec suits real equipment layouts. Five meters runs from a roof placement down a door seal, under trim, and across to a cellular router in a trunk-mounted tray or a radio under the dash, without splices. The SMA male termination threads directly onto the SMA female antenna ports standard on cellular routers, modems, and many radios — the connection is made the moment the cable reaches the device, with no adapters unless the equipment uses RP-SMA.
As a mount, the MD-5SP takes a compatible whip element selected for the band in service — the base-and-cable assembly stays constant while whips change with the application. Installation practice is the usual for magnetic mounts: clean flat ferrous steel only, protected cable routing through door seals, removal before automated car washes. Shipping weight is approximately 2 lb, Panorama part number MD-5SP — a dependable middle-weight foundation for temporary and semi-permanent antenna work.
