About This Device

Cellular routers frequently end up in the worst RF locations — inside steel enclosures, under counters, in basements next to the equipment they monitor. The PR2VM20M exists to break that compromise. It is an SMA extension cable for Teltonika routers, connecting between the router's SMA antenna port and the antenna itself so the antenna can sit where reception is good while the router stays where power and cabling are convenient. Compatibility spans the mainstream RUT range: RUT200, RUT240, RUT241, RUT360, RUT950, RUT951 and RUT955, along with other Teltonika devices that use standard SMA antenna connectors. The most common deployment pattern is simple: router on the DIN rail inside a metal cabinet, cable through a gland, paddle or puck antenna mounted outside. Moving the antenna outside a steel enclosure routinely transforms an unusable signal into a solid connection, because the enclosure itself is often the dominant source of attenuation. As with any coaxial extension, there is a trade: every foot of cable and every connector junction adds some insertion loss. The rule of thumb is that escaping an RF-hostile location gains you far more than the cable costs you, but avoid daisy-chaining multiple extensions when one longer antenna cable would do. Hand-tighten the SMA junctions snugly and weather-seal any outdoor connections.
