About This Device

Teltonika routers hide a useful secret in their power connector: alongside the DC pins sit configurable I/O lines that can sense a contact closure or drive an external indicator. The catch is physical — using them normally means fabricating a custom cable. The PR5MEC21 removes that step. It is an adapter that connects into the 4-pin power path and breaks out I/O access, so the router can keep its standard power arrangement while the input/output circuits become available for wiring. That unlocks the router's event-driven features with minimal labor. A door switch wired to a digital input lets a RUT955 send an SMS when a remote cabinet opens. An output can drive a relay or panel lamp under RutOS control — signaling connectivity loss to on-site staff, for example. In vehicles, an ignition-sense line into the I/O lets the router power-manage with the engine. All of this is configurable in RutOS through its I/O, events and triggers framework; the PR5MEC21 supplies the physical access. Compatibility covers the RUT240, RUT241, RUT360, RUT950, RUT955, RUTX08, RUTX10, RUTX11 and RUTX12. As always with I/O work, consult the specific model's pinout and electrical limits for input voltage ranges and output switching capacity before wiring external circuits. For integrators, the part standardizes what used to be one-off cable fabrication: every monitored-cabinet build gets a PR5MEC21, the same wiring diagram, and a repeatable result.
