About This Device
The Cradlepoint TAA-BF-MC20-BT gives E300 and E3000 enterprise branch routers a Bluetooth Low Energy 5.1 radio, extending the router's role from connectivity device to IoT edge. BLE is the dominant protocol for battery-powered sensing—temperature and humidity probes, door and occupancy sensors, asset tags, and beacons all speak it—but hearing those devices normally requires dedicated BLE gateways scattered through the site, each needing power, network, and management.
With this module installed, the branch router itself listens. Retail locations track high-value merchandise tags and monitor cooler temperatures through the same E300 that runs the store's WAN. Clinics observe equipment location and environmental compliance without another box on the wall. Warehouses light up BLE visibility in office and staging areas where routers already live. Because the module rides in the router, it inherits the router's power, its network path, and its NetCloud management—three deployment problems solved before they start.
Bluetooth 5.1 matters for these applications: the specification's improvements in range, throughput, and direction-finding capability over earlier BLE generations make gateway-class listening practical at branch scale. The TAA part number carries Trade Agreements Act compliance, keeping the module eligible for government-funded deployments. Listed shipping weight is one pound. Confirm your router's firmware requirements and the module-slot configuration for your E300/E3000 fleet in Cradlepoint documentation before rollout.
