About This Device
The Cradlepoint TAA-MB-RX30-MC gives the R1900 5G ruggedized router two expansions in one TAA-compliant attachment: a modular modem bay and an integrated Ethernet switch. The accessory mounts to the R1900 in the same compact, vehicle-grade form factor, drawing power and management from the host so the assembled stack behaves as a single NetCloud-managed device.
The modem bay carries the strategic weight. Fitted with a separately purchased MC400 module—TAA-MB-MC400-5GB for compliant 5G builds—the R1900 runs two cellular radios with SIMs from different carriers, failing over automatically when either network drops. That dual-carrier design has become the reference architecture for police, fire, EMS, and transit fleets, where communication loss is an operational safety issue. The switched Ethernet ports handle the practical side, connecting cameras, mobile data terminals, and telematics gear locally without a separate switch competing for space and power in the console.
This SKU exists because government purchasing demands it: grant-funded vehicle programs require Trade Agreements Act compliance on each line item, and the TAA-MB-RX30-MC keeps R1900 builds compliant without functional compromise versus the commercial MB-RX30-MC. For builds needing powered ports instead of a second radio, the companion TAA-MB-RX30-POE supplies a four-port PoE switch. Shipping weight is about 3.1 pounds; UPC 840292700208. Specify the accessory at initial upfit—adding it later means pulling vehicles back through the shop.
