About This Device

The FortiExtender 200F is part of Fortinet's FortiExtender line, built on the company's security-driven networking approach: connectivity and security are configured together rather than bolted on afterward. Unlike its cellular siblings, the 200F is a wired extender: it creates a secured Layer 2 tunnel back to a FortiGate, projecting your data center or campus security policy into space you don't control — a store inside a mall, a clinic inside a hospital, a desk inside a partner's office. The hardware is a compact 3.9 x 1.1 inch, 6.81-watt appliance with five GE RJ45 ports whose WAN or LAN roles are set in software — one SKU covers many topologies. There is no cellular modem in this model; the 200F rides existing Ethernet or broadband transport and focuses on securing it, tunneling all traffic back to the FortiGate where inspection and policy live. Management options fit both single sites and thousand-site fleets. A FortiGate can adopt and control the unit through Security Fabric integration, while FortiExtender Cloud provides zero-touch provisioning, monitoring, and firmware management at scale; FortiManager support rounds out the tooling. Think of it as moving the edge of your network to wherever a cable can reach: micro-branches, in-store concessions, and clinic rooms get enterprise policy without local firewall hardware.
