About This Device

The FortiExtender 211E is part of Fortinet's FortiExtender line, built on the company's security-driven networking approach: connectivity and security are configured together rather than bolted on afterward. This proven E-series model carries a dual-SIM LTE Advanced modem, with automatic failover between carrier profiles. The E-series design lets you place the unit near a window or high on a wall — wherever signal is strongest — while the FortiGate stays in the closet. Fortinet positions the 211E for exactly the scenarios that dominate distributed IT: secure failover with SD-WAN for business continuity, primary wireless WAN for POS, ATM, and kiosk systems, and faster cloud on-ramp for SaaS/IaaS traffic. Single-modem, multi-ISP support means one unit can juggle profiles from different providers, and the compact 6.3 x 1.6 inch desktop/wall-mount chassis with external antennas installs in minutes. Management options fit both single sites and thousand-site fleets. A FortiGate can adopt and control the unit through Security Fabric integration, while FortiExtender Cloud provides zero-touch provisioning, monitoring, and firmware management at scale; FortiManager support rounds out the tooling. Estates already standardized on E-series units can extend the fleet at low cost while newer G-series sites share the same console.
