About This Device

The FortiExtender 212F is part of Fortinet's FortiExtender line, built on the company's security-driven networking approach: connectivity and security are configured together rather than bolted on afterward. This dual-modem model carries two dual-SIM LTE M.2 modules, for four SIM positions and two simultaneously active carrier connections — the architecture continuity-critical sites specify when a single modem is a single point of failure. With both radios live, traffic can be split across carriers by policy or one path held hot for instant recovery — there is no reconnection window when a network degrades. Six external antenna connectors allow proper RF engineering in difficult buildings, and the 6.2 x 1.5 inch desktop/wall-mount chassis fits back-of-house installs. Quad-band LTE with HSPA+/UMTS fallback keeps even marginal sites online. Management options fit both single sites and thousand-site fleets. A FortiGate can adopt and control the unit through Security Fabric integration, while FortiExtender Cloud provides zero-touch provisioning, monitoring, and firmware management at scale; FortiManager support rounds out the tooling. For distributed fleets, FortiExtender Cloud provisions and monitors hundreds of 212F units without site visits.
