About This Device
The FortiExtender 511G-WiFi is part of Fortinet's FortiExtender line, built on the company's security-driven networking approach: connectivity and security are configured together rather than bolted on afterward. This current G-series 5G model carries a dual-SIM 5G Sub-6 GHz M.2 module with a reserved eSIM, and adds a 2x2 dual-concurrent Wi-Fi 6 radio, so one appliance covers both the WAN and local wireless access. The -P suffix is the regulatory region code for this variant.
Alongside the 5G radio, the integrated 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) radio serves laptops, tablets, and IoT devices directly — for small sites, that removes a separate access point and its licensing. The port set includes 1x 2.5 GbE port, 1x GbE combo port (SFP + RJ45), and 3x GbE RJ45 WAN/LAN-configurable ports, plus USB 2.0 and an RJ45 console; BLE 5.0 supports proximity workflows. Power arrives via 802.3at PoE or 12 V DC. Dual SIM slots plus the reserved eSIM give three carrier provisioning paths.
Management options fit both single sites and thousand-site fleets. A FortiGate can adopt and control the unit through Security Fabric integration, while FortiExtender Cloud provides zero-touch provisioning, monitoring, and firmware management at scale; FortiManager support rounds out the tooling. Order the region code that matches your deployment country — the -P variant covers its regulatory domain; hardware capabilities are identical across codes.
