About This Device

The FortiGate Rugged 50G-5G answers a specific problem: industrial and outdoor-adjacent sites need real security, but standard firewalls aren't built for their temperatures, vibration, and dust — and many of those sites have no wired WAN at all. Fortinet's answer packages a ruggedized IP40-class fanless enclosure with 4x GE RJ45 LAN ports, 2x GE RJ45 WAN ports, 2x SFP slots, 2x RJ45 serial ports, a USB port, dual power inputs, and an integrated 5G modem with dual SIM slots plus a GPS receiver (SMA antenna port). Because it runs FortiOS, the appliance delivers the full FortiGate feature set: next-generation firewall inspection, application control, IPS, VPN, and SD-WAN, with FortiGuard security services available by subscription. The integrated 5G modem makes cellular a managed, inspected WAN path — either primary transport for greenfield sites or instant failover where a wired circuit exists. Management folds into existing Fortinet tooling: FortiManager for configuration at scale, FortiAnalyzer for logging, and the Security Fabric for coordinated policy across the estate. For OT and critical-infrastructure teams, that means the remote cabinet finally runs the same security stack, policy language, and reporting as the head end. Hardware-plus-services bundles (Enterprise Protection or Unified Threat Protection with FortiCare Premium) are available under separate BDL part numbers when you want coverage in the same PO.
