About This Device
PoE switches ask more of their power wiring than routers do, and the 170872-000 answers with 18 AWG conductors in Rail Safe construction: a 2x3 connector seating into the RX30-PoE managed switch or RX30-MC managed dock, with 3 m (10 ft) of black jacketed cable to bare-wire terminations at the vehicle's protected power block. The heavier gauge holds voltage under the RX30-PoE's aggregate PoE load, and the Rail Safe designation covers the rolling-stock and transit installs these accessories were built for. GPIO conductors ride the same jacket for power sequencing and I/O.
An underfed PoE switch browns out its cameras and APs first - correct gauge on the supply side is what keeps the endpoints honest.
Seat the 2x3 end in the RX30 device, route along approved paths, and land power, ground, and GPIO at the protected block per the wiring guide. Fuse for the switch's full PoE budget, not its idle draw.
Cloud Care Networks stocks the Cradlepoint 170872-000 alongside the gateways and routers it supports, so IT and field-service teams can consolidate antennas, spares, and replacement hardware on a single order.
