signal

Fix weak cell signal

Weak signal is usually walls, metal roofs or distance to the tower. An antenna outside, or a booster, brings the signal to your devices.

What you need

  1. Antenna or booster

Antenna for one router or hotspot; booster for every phone

    from $9.92

  2. Low-loss cable

Only for longer runs from the antenna to the device

    from $8.08

  3. A device with antenna ports

Check your router or hotspot's connector; boosters work with any phone

How it works

Phones and routers inside metal buildings, vehicles and basements lose bars even when the tower is close. Far from the tower, every wall costs speed.

  1. Find where signal is strongest: outside, higher up, or facing the tower.
  2. Mount the antenna there and run cable to your router or hotspot, or install a booster.
  3. Your devices connect through the stronger signal.
The antenna does the reaching; your device does the rest.

Questions

Antenna or booster: which do I need?

An antenna connects to a router or hotspot with antenna ports and improves that one device. A booster re-broadcasts signal inside, so every phone in the building or vehicle benefits.

Directional or omni?

Directional if one tower is far away and you can aim at it. Omni if towers are in different directions, the vehicle moves, or you want an easier install.

Will an antenna fit my device?

Match the connector (for example SMA or TS9) and the number of cellular ports (2x2 or 4x4) to your device. Each listing states its connector.

Does cable length matter?

Yes. Long, thin cable loses signal. Keep runs short and use low-loss cable for longer runs.

Will it help if there is no signal at all?

No. An antenna or booster needs some usable signal outside to work with. Check with a phone outdoors or on the roof first.
