The Cradlepoint 170900-014 is the R2105-5GB Captive Modem and Wi-Fi Accessory, Global model. The Cradlepoint 5G Captive Modem and Wi-Fi Accessory with R2105-5GB (part number 170900-014) lets you mount the cellular radio where the signal is strongest while the controlling router stays where it is needed. In Captive Modem mode, an Ericsson Cradlepoint router acts as the controller. NetCloud sees the R2105 as a modem WAN interface with the same Wireless WAN functions as an embedded modem, including Smart WAN Selection, WAN Verify and failover/failback. It also sees the R2105 as a Wi-Fi interface with the same functionality as the router's embedded Wi-Fi radios. Running the two devices as one also reduces licensing costs.

The R2105 uses an embedded 5G NR FR1 low- and mid-band modem with NSA/SA support, LTE Advanced Pro Category 20 fallback, 4x4 MIMO, dual 4FF SIM slots and 3GPP Release 15. Peak rates reach 4.14 Gbps downlink and 660 Mbps uplink. The modem supports CBRS Band 48 for private cellular networks. Listed network operator certifications are AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. Public safety certifications are FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline Verified. Wi-Fi is dual-band, dual-radio 2x2 MU-MIMO 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) with DFS.
