Cellular CPE works best high and near windows; power outlets live low and behind furniture. The ACC-500170 resolves that argument the standard way: inject DC power into the Ethernet run at the outlet end, and let one cable deliver both power and data to the device end. This is a passive injector - it places the supply's DC voltage onto the spare pairs continuously, without the negotiation handshake of 802.3af/at PoE. That simplicity is why Digi uses it for its own CPE, and also why it should only feed equipment documented for passive PoE at the supplied voltage: standards-based devices and passive injection do not mix safely. Data passes at 10/100 Fast Ethernet, which matches the WAN throughput class of the CPE it serves. The injector is the green in-line box only; the DC power supply that feeds it is a separate Digi part, which lets the same injector serve different regional supplies.
