Overview

The Digi ACC-500170 is a passive PoE injector for Digi CPE installations: it merges DC power from a separate Digi power supply with a 10/100 Ethernet connection onto a single cable run, so the CPE can mount where signal is best while its power outlet stays where the wall put it. Note that it is passive - not 802.3af/at - and non-gigabit, and the matching power supply is ordered separately.

Cellular CPE works best high and near windows; power outlets live low and behind furniture. The ACC-500170 resolves that argument the standard way: inject DC power into the Ethernet run at the outlet end, and let one cable deliver both power and data to the device end.

This is a passive injector - it places the supply's DC voltage onto the spare pairs continuously, without the negotiation handshake of 802.3af/at PoE. That simplicity is why Digi uses it for its own CPE, and also why it should only feed equipment documented for passive PoE at the supplied voltage: standards-based devices and passive injection do not mix safely. Data passes at 10/100 Fast Ethernet, which matches the WAN throughput class of the CPE it serves.

The injector is the green in-line box only; the DC power supply that feeds it is a separate Digi part, which lets the same injector serve different regional supplies. Digi's short flat patch leads - like the ACC-440091 - complete the shelf-side wiring.

Is this an 802.3af/at PoE injector?

No - it is passive. It places the DC supply voltage on the cable continuously without negotiation. Use it only with equipment documented for passive PoE at the supplied voltage, such as the Digi CPE it is specified for; standards-based PoE devices should not be fed from passive injectors.

Does it include the power supply?

No. The injector ships alone and requires a companion Digi power supply, ordered separately. Tell us your CPE model and region and Cloud Care Networks will confirm the correct PSU part number.

Is it gigabit capable?

No - data passes at 10/100 Fast Ethernet. That matches the Digi CPE class it serves; for gigabit PoE requirements you would use different hardware.
