Overview

The Cradlepoint BA-MC400-1200M-B is the MC400-1200M-B LTE Advanced Pro modular modem in its AER2200 kit code. It installs in the modem slot of MC400-capable Ericsson Cradlepoint routers. Use it to upgrade a router's cellular capability without replacing the router, or to add a second modem for failover. The modem is rated for up to 1.2 Gbps LTE downlink and 150 Mbps uplink, with dual SIM slots and 4x4 MIMO.

The Ericsson Cradlepoint MC400-1200M-B is a Gigabit-class LTE Advanced Pro modular modem for MC400-capable branch, vehicle and IoT routers. This SKU, BA-MC400-1200M-B, is the AER2200 kit code. It gives network teams two options: upgrade a router to newer modem technology, or install a second modem to raise availability and coverage. Either way, the original router hardware stays in service. The package includes the MC400 modem and modem door covers.

According to the data sheet, the modem is a Cat 18 LTE Advanced Pro design on 3GPP Release 12. It supports up to 5 downlink and 2 uplink carrier aggregation, 4x4 MIMO and up to 256 QAM. Peak LTE rates are 1.2 Gbps down and 150 Mbps up, with WCDMA/DC-HSPA+ fallback. Dual 2FF SIM slots support SIM-based auto-carrier selection. The router can switch to the second SIM when the primary plan's data cap is reached, which helps control data costs.

The modem is carrier certified on AT&T and Verizon, and holds PTCRB and GCF standards approval. For public safety, it is FirstNet Capable and certified for Verizon Frontline. It also supports private cellular networks, including FCC Part 96 CBRS Band 48. Active GPS and SMS are supported.

The MC400 operates from -30 °C to 70 °C and draws power over USB from the host router. When installed in an IBR1700, in a COR Extensibility Dock on an IBR900, or in an R1900 with an RX30-MC, it is compliant with MIL-STD-810G and SAE J1455.
