Overview

The Socket Mobile DuraSled DS840 (CX4388-3528) turns an iPhone 17e or iPhone 16e into a durable 1D/2D barcode scanner. The rubber sled protects the phone from drops. The omnidirectional imager reads printed and on-screen barcodes. The included charging dock charges the reader and the phone at the same time. It pairs over Bluetooth, works natively in Square and Shopify, and connects to custom apps through Socket Mobile's CaptureSDK.

The DuraSled DS840 for Apple is Socket Mobile's performance 1D/2D barcode sled scanner for iPhone. This configuration, CX4388-3528, is the black sled for iPhone 17e and iPhone 16e, bundled with a charging dock. Insert the iPhone, pair the scanner over Bluetooth and it is ready to work. It suits delivery services, asset tracking, ticketing, retail, healthcare and any app-driven mobile workflow.

The imager uses a 1280 x 960 pixel sensor with a 44.5° horizontal by 33.5° vertical scan angle. It reads printed and on-screen barcodes omnidirectionally at 3.0 to 49.5 cm (1.2 to 19.5 in), depending on barcode size, symbology and label media. It reads in light levels from 0 to 100,000 lux, from pitch black to direct sunlight. Code 128, UPC/EAN, GS1 DataBar, QR, Data Matrix, PDF417 and Aztec are enabled by default. Postal codes, including USPS Intelligent Mail, are also supported.

The rubber casing is rated for 2,500 tumbles at 1 m (3.3 ft) onto a metal plate. The field-replaceable 700 mAh lithium-polymer battery is rated for 10,000 scans within 11 hours at one scan every 4 seconds, with 25 hours of standby. The charging dock charges the reader and the iPhone together, so each unit starts the shift full.

The DS840 connects over Class 2 Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR with a range of up to 10 m (33 ft). It supports HID, SPP and iOS Application Mode. Square and Shopify support it natively, and CaptureSDK 2.0.29 or higher adds scanning to native and web apps. DuraSled core components stay the same across iPhone models, so the same accessories and SDK carry forward when phones change. The DS840 is designed and assembled in Fremont, CA, and includes a 1-year warranty.

No. The phone is not included. The box contains the DS840 data reader, a wrist strap, the charging dock and a Get Started Guide. The charging cable and adapter are sold separately.
