Overview

The Rhino Mobility RHINO D2 is an ultra-compact 5G RedCap dongle that adds cellular connectivity to laptops and enterprise devices over USB-C. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon X35 platform with OpenWRT and supports 5G RedCap and 4G LTE, including CBRS Band 48. It accepts a physical SIM or eSIM, is certified for the T-Mobile and AT&T networks, and is rated IP54. Fleets can be managed centrally through Mambo EMM.

The RHINO D2 5G from Rhino Mobility is a 5G RedCap dongle that gives laptops, tablets and enterprise peripherals their own cellular connection. It measures 86 x 47 x 14.5 mm, weighs 35 g, and connects through two USB Type-C (USB 2.0) ports with USB Power Delivery and USB tethering. It works with Windows, macOS, iPadOS, Linux and Android, so one SKU can serve a mixed fleet.

The dongle is built on the Qualcomm Snapdragon X35 5G RedCap platform with an ARM Cortex A7 processor running at up to 1.9 GHz, 256MB RAM and 512MB storage, running OpenWRT. It supports 5G RedCap on bands 1, 2, 5, 7, 12, 14, 25, 26, 30, 48, 66, 71 and 78 and 4G LTE on bands 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 14, 25, 26, 30, 41, 48, 66 and 71. Band 48 support covers private CBRS networks, and Rhino lists network slicing support. The D2 accepts both a physical SIM and an eSIM. It is FCC and PTCRB certified, T-Mobile Network Certified for IoT (Non-stock) and AT&T Network Ready.

The D2 is designed for high-volume enterprise rollouts. Mambo EMM lets administrators remotely monitor devices, manage eSIMs, deploy updates and run large deployments, and a local WebUI is available for direct configuration. The IP54 rating, 1.5 meter drop rating and -10 to 50°C operating range suit work in warehouses, vehicles and on shop floors. A TAA-compliant manufacturing option is available.

Rhino guarantees product availability for 3 years, so fleets can be standardized without mid-cycle model changes. The dongle carries a 1-year limited warranty. A spec sheet, brochure, management capabilities guide, quick start guide and user manual are available for the D2.
