The Ericsson Cradlepoint MC400-5GB (MB-MC400-5GB) is a 5G modular modem for MC400-capable Cradlepoint routers. This mobile SKU is the 5G upgrade for the R1900 with an RX30-MC managed accessory or the IBR1700, and it includes modem doors. It supports 5G FR1 NSA/SA and LTE Advanced Pro Category 20, with dual 4FF SIM slots and 4x4 MIMO. Use it to move an existing router to 5G or to add a second modem for failover.

The Ericsson Cradlepoint MC400-5GB is a field-installable 5G modem for Cradlepoint MC400-capable routers. It lets teams move a deployment to 5G without replacing the router, or add a second modem for failover and carrier diversity. This MB-MC400-5GB SKU is the mobile upgrade for the R1900 with an RX30-MC managed accessory or the IBR1700, and it includes modem doors. The data sheet lists these supported endpoints: AER2200, IBR1700, E300, E3000, R1900 (requires the RX30-MC) and R920 (requires the RX20-MC).

The modem supports 5G FR1 in both NSA and SA modes plus LTE Advanced Pro Category 20 (3GPP Release 15), with WCDMA/DC-HSPA+ fallback. Rated peak rates reach up to 4.14 Gbps downlink and 660 Mbps uplink. It uses 4x4 MIMO and up to 7 CA downlink on LTE. Band coverage includes n41, n71, n77 and n78, and LTE support includes B14 and CBRS B48. Two 4FF SIM slots with SIM-based auto-carrier selection let the router switch to the second SIM when the primary data plan cap is reached.

The MC400-5GB carries network operator certifications for AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. It is FirstNet Capable and certified for T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline. It also supports private cellular networks under FCC Part 96 (CBRS Band 48). Power comes over USB from the host router. The module measures 93 x 74 x 13 mm, operates from -30 °C to 70 °C, and meets MIL STD 810G and SAE J1455 when installed in an IBR1700 or an R1900 with RX30-MC. SIM cards are not included.
