Overview

The Parsec PTA0476 is an IP67-rated, bi-directional gas discharge tube lightning arrester with SMA female to SMA bulkhead female connections. It covers DC to 6 GHz with under 0.9 dB insertion loss and VSWR below 1.4. Installed inline on each antenna cable and grounded with 18 AWG wire, it protects the router from static build-up.

The Parsec PTA0476 is an inline lightning (surge) arrester for antenna cable runs. It protects indoor and outdoor equipment from the build-up of static electricity. It uses a bi-directional gas discharge tube suppressor in an IP67-rated body, with SMA female to SMA bulkhead female connections, and it supports frequencies from DC to 6 GHz.

RF performance is specified for use on the signal path. Insertion loss is under 0.9 dB, VSWR is below 1.4 across DC to 6 GHz, and impedance is 50 ohms. Insulation resistance exceeds 2000 megohms. The DC discharge voltage is 90 V, and the initial impulse discharge is 450-500 V at 1 kV/µs. The unit operates from -40°F to 185°F, measures 0.9 x 2.7 x 1.2 in and weighs 0.21 lb. Grounding is by feedthrough or screw terminal, and Parsec recommends 18 AWG ground wire.

One arrester is needed for each cellular cable. Parsec's reference designs use two PTA0476 units with the Labrador (PTAWM2L01W) and four with the Akita (PRO4A4L0W), Chinook (PRO4CH4L15W) and Husky (PRO4HL01B). In each case the arresters are paired with Parsec PC240 SMA cable kits from 25 to 100 ft and PC200L02NFNM jumpers.
