The Cradlepoint TAA-170900-014 pairs the outdoor Ericsson Cradlepoint R2105-5GB with captive modem and captive Wi-Fi modes. The R2105 is mounted in the best signal location, and a Cradlepoint router elsewhere on the site acts as the controller. In NetCloud, the accessory appears as a modem WAN interface with the same Wireless WAN tools as an embedded modem, including Smart WAN Selection, WAN Verify and failover/failback. It also appears as a Wi-Fi interface with the same functions as the router's built-in radios. Deployment, management and licensing are handled through the controlling router. Cradlepoint lists the R1900 as the compatible router, and the part also appears in the R920 and R980 data sheets.

The modem is a 5G NR FR1 NSA/SA and LTE Advanced Pro Category 20 modem with dual 4FF SIM slots, 4x4 MIMO and four internal cellular antennas. Peak rates reach up to 4.14 Gbps downlink and 660 Mbps uplink. The modem supports a broad set of 5G NR bands from n1 to n79, including n48 CBRS for private cellular networks. Cradlepoint lists AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon network operator certifications, along with FirstNet Trusted, T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline Verified. The Wi-Fi radio is dual-band, concurrent 2x2 MU-MIMO 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6) with DFS.

The R2100-series housing is designed for exposed installations. It is rated IP67 and IK09, resists salt-mist corrosion and is tested to MIL-STD-810G shock and vibration procedures. It operates from -30 °C to 70 °C. Power comes from a 9–36 VDC input with ignition sensing or from 802.3at PoE. The package includes the R2105 with its attached power and Ethernet cables, a 3 m GPIO cable, a mounting template and a small accessories kit.
