The Cradlepoint TAA-MB-MC400-5GB is the TAA-compliant MC400-5GB modular modem, packaged as the 5G upgrade for R1900 routers with an RX30-MC managed accessory and for IBR1700 mobile routers. It adds 5G FR1 NSA/SA and LTE Advanced Pro Category 20. Peak downlink is rated up to 4.14 Gbps. The modem has dual 4FF SIM slots and 4x4 MIMO. You can use it to bring an existing router up to 5G or to add a second modem for failover and carrier diversity. Modem doors are included.

The Cradlepoint MC400-5GB is a modular modem that installs in the modem slot of an MC400-capable Cradlepoint router. This TAA-compliant part number (TAA-MB-MC400-5GB) is the 5G upgrade for R1900 routers fitted with the RX30-MC managed accessory and for IBR1700 mobile routers. Modem doors are included. Fleets, public-sector buyers and field-operations teams can use it to upgrade to newer cellular technology without replacing the router, or to add a second modem that keeps vehicles and remote sites online.

The modem supports 5G FR1 in both NSA and SA modes, alongside LTE Advanced Pro Category 20 and WCDMA/DC-HSPA+. It is built to 3GPP Release 15 and uses 4x4 MIMO. Cradlepoint rates peak downlink at up to 4.14 Gbps and peak uplink at up to 660 Mbps. On LTE, carrier aggregation reaches up to 7 CA downlink and 2 CA uplink. Band coverage runs from n71 (600 MHz) through n79 (4900 MHz), and includes CBRS Band 48 under FCC Part 96 for private cellular networks.

The modem has dual 4FF SIM slots with SIM-based auto-carrier selection. When the data cap on the primary SIM is reached, the router can switch to the second modem or SIM, which helps control data plan costs. The modem carries AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon network operator certifications. It is also FirstNet Capable, T-Mobile Connecting Heroes and Verizon Frontline certified for public safety deployments.

The modem draws its power over USB from the host router. It operates from -30 °C to 70 °C. When installed in an IBR1700, or in an R1900 with an RX30-MC, it meets MIL-STD-810G and SAE J1455 for shock, vibration and humidity. Full specifications are in the MC400 datasheet.
