Overview

The StarTech.com UUSBOTGADAP is a compact Micro USB On-The-Go adapter. It turns an OTG-capable smartphone or tablet into a USB host by adding a standard USB-A female port. Plug in a thumb drive, USB keyboard or mouse through a Micro USB-B male connector rated for USB 2.0 at 480Mbps. The black PVC housing measures 1.5 in long and weighs 0.2 oz. The StarTech.com UUSBOTGADAP Micro USB OTG to USB Adapter (M/F) adds a full-size USB-A port to a Micro USB tablet or smartphone that supports USB On-The-Go. Once connected, the mobile device acts as a USB host. It can then read a flash drive, accept a USB keyboard or mouse, or work with other USB 2.0 peripherals. This makes it a practical add-on for field teams and mobile workers who move files or type on the go.

The adapter has a single Micro USB-B male connector on one end and a single USB-A female port on the other. Both are rated at 480Mbps and 2.5W. The connectors are nickel-plated, and the body is durable PVC. At 1.5 x 0.7 x 0.5 in (39 x 17 x 12 mm) and 6 g, it stays connected to the device without adding a cable to manage.

This adapter works only with devices that support USB OTG. Micro USB phones and tablets without OTG host capability will not recognize attached peripherals.
