About This Device
When an antenna cable ends in a standard SMA female connector and the radio presents an RP-SMA female port, nothing will mate correctly even though every connector looks like SMA. The Panorama CA-SP-RPSP fixes this specific case: it is a double-male adapter with standard SMA on one side and reverse-polarity SMA on the other, joining the two females across a single machined body.
Because RP-SMA differs from SMA only in the center-contact arrangement, forcing mismatched connectors together can damage pins without ever making contact. A purpose-built polarity adapter is the correct fix, and it installs tool-free in seconds — thread each side finger-tight, then snug gently. At roughly 0.01 lb the adapter puts no meaningful strain on device bulkheads, and its short inline profile fits dense installations like wireless gateways in NEMA enclosures or telematics trays.
Panorama Antennas, an RF manufacturer since 1947, produces this adapter as part of a full family of SMA polarity and connector-family transitions. Field integrators typically carry the male-male (CA-SP-RPSP) and female-male (CA-SJ-RPSP) variants together so that any SMA/RP-SMA combination encountered on site can be resolved on the spot rather than waiting on replacement cable assemblies.
