Overview

The Taoglas Olympian II MA145.K.LBC.015 is a compact 3-in-1 permanent-mount antenna for vehicles and outdoor assets. It combines an active GPS/GLONASS/Galileo antenna, a wideband 5G/4G cellular antenna with 3G/2G fallback, and a dual-band 2.4/5.8 GHz Wi-Fi antenna. The IP67, IK10-rated housing is 48.5mm tall and 50mm in diameter. This variant is supplied with 4m TGC-200 cables: SMA(M) on the GNSS and cellular leads and RP-SMA on the Wi-Fi lead.

The Taoglas Olympian II MA145.K.LBC.015 puts GNSS, cellular and Wi-Fi antennas in one vandal-resistant puck for external use on vehicles, kiosks and outdoor equipment. It is a cable and connector ordering variant of the MA145 platform. This version has 4m TGC-200 cables, with SMA(M) connectors on the GNSS and cellular leads and RP-SMA on the Wi-Fi lead. Typical applications include smart metering and remote monitoring, digital signage, and transportation and telematics.

The cellular element covers the worldwide LTE bands, many sub-6 GHz 5G FR1 bands and 3G/2G fallback. That includes Band 71 at 617-698 MHz, the 1710-2200 MHz mid-band (including Band 66) and 3300-4200 MHz 5G NR (Bands 22, 42, 48, 77, 78, 79). The Wi-Fi element covers 2400-2500 and 5150-5850 MHz. Both use 50 Ω impedance, linear polarization and an omnidirectional pattern, and are rated for 10 W maximum input power. The active GNSS antenna receives GPS L1, GLONASS L1, Galileo L1 and SBAS (WAAS/EGNOS). Its LNA delivers about 27.5 dB of gain at 3.0 V while drawing 10 mA.

No ground plane is required, although the low cellular bands perform best when the antenna is mounted on a metal ground plane. It installs from inside the enclosure through a nickel-plated brass M12 thread, and a rubber O-ring seals against water ingress. Taoglas notes that it is not suitable for metal enclosures where the cable runs inside the enclosure. The UV-resistant ABS housing carries IP67 and IK10 ratings and is rated from -40°C to 85°C and for 200 thermal shock cycles.

How does MA145.K.LBC.015 differ from the standard MA145?

It is a cable and connector variant. It ships with 4m TGC-200 cables, with SMA(M) on the GNSS and cellular leads and RP-SMA on the Wi-Fi lead, instead of the standard 1m RG-174.

Does it cover 5G?

Yes. The cellular element covers worldwide LTE bands and many sub-6 GHz 5G FR1 bands, including 3300-4200 MHz (Bands 77, 78 and others), with 3G/2G fallback.

Does it need a metal ground plane?

No ground plane is required. For the lower cellular bands, it performs best when mounted on a metal ground plane.

Can I mount it on a metal enclosure?

Yes, but Taoglas notes it is not suitable for a metal enclosure where the cable runs inside that enclosure. It mounts from the inside using an M12 thread with a rubber O-ring seal.

Is the GNSS antenna active?

Yes. It has an LNA delivering roughly 23.7-30.2 dB of gain depending on supply voltage (1.8-5.5 V), drawing 10 mA at 3.0 V.
