The RUTXR1 is the Teltonika router built for the equipment rack: a low-profile chassis with redundant power inputs, SFP fiber capability and dual-SIM cellular, intended to sit in the same cabinet as the switches it backs up. The PR5MEC26 is the mounting kit that puts it there, providing the hardware to secure the RUTXR1 in a standard rack.
Rack-mounting the failover router is not cosmetic. A cellular backup device resting on top of other equipment is the first thing unplugged during maintenance and the last thing anyone can find during an outage. Mounted with the PR5MEC26, the RUTXR1 occupies a documented rack position, its power leads dressed to the PDU, its Ethernet and antenna cabling managed like every other service in the cabinet. When the primary WAN fails at 2 a.m., the backup path is exactly where the runbook says it is.
Installation follows standard rack practice: fix the kit's hardware to the router, mount in the rack, and torque to the cabinet standard. The kit is specific to the RUTXR1 — other Teltonika models use the DIN rail and surface kits (PR5MEC00, PR5MEC11, PR5MEC12) — so there is no compatibility puzzle: one router, one kit.
For MSPs and IT teams deploying the RUTXR1 as branch failover, treat the PR5MEC26 as part of the router order rather than an afterthought. At roughly 0.34 lb of hardware, it is the cheapest line on the quote and the difference between an installed system and a shelf-resting one.
