Overview

The Cradlepoint TAA-MB-RX30-MC is the TAA-compliant version of the RX30-MC Managed Accessory for the Ericsson Cradlepoint R1900 5G ruggedized router. This compact, ruggedized unit adds one MC400 modular modem slot for a second modem and four switchable GbE RJ45 ports. It is IP64 rated, runs on 9–36 VDC and carries vehicle and rail certifications. The modem is sold separately.

The Cradlepoint RX30-MC Managed Accessory (part number TAA-MB-RX30-MC, the TAA-compliant version of MB-RX30-MC) expands the Ericsson Cradlepoint R1900 5G ruggedized router. It is built for fleets, public safety vehicles, transit and industrial sites that need carrier diversity and more wired connections than the R1900 provides on its own. The RX30-MC works only with the R1900, and activating it requires an R1900 licensed to an Ericsson NetCloud service plan.

The accessory has two jobs. Its MC400 modular modem slot accepts a second Cradlepoint MC400 modem, with a peak throughput of 300 Mbps through the slot. The R1900 data sheet lists the MC400 5G Modem, which requires a 4FF SIM, as an upgrade for an R1900 with the RX30-MC. The accessory also adds four GbE RJ45 ports, each switchable between LAN and WAN, for cameras, terminals, sensors or a backup wired uplink. These ports do not supply PoE. A 6-pin GPIO connector (2x3 Molex Micro-fit, 3 mm locking type) handles I/O integration.

The RX30-MC matches the R1900's rugged design. It has an IP64 rating (dust tight and protected against splashing water) and operates from -30 °C to 70 °C (-22 °F to 158 °F). It accepts 9–36 VDC with reverse-polarity and transient-voltage protection per ISO 7637-2. It is certified to E-Mark, EN 50155 Class S1, EN 50121-3-2, MIL STD 810G and SAE J1455. The calculated MTBF is 2,697,409 hours (Telcordia SR332 at 25 °C).

In the box are the managed accessory, a 3-meter 18AWG GPIO and power cable (2x3), a small accessories kit and a mounting template. The RX30 quick start guide and data sheet cover installation, fusing and power details.

Does the RX30-MC include a modem?
