The Zebra TC78 Premium (TC78A1-3T1K6E2A1A-FT) is an ultra-rugged 6-inch Android mobile computer for North American field and logistics teams. This configuration pairs sub-6 5G, CBRS and Wi-Fi 6E with the SE55 Advanced Range scan engine, 8GB RAM and 128GB flash. It also includes a 16MP OIS rear camera, true hot swap on a 4680 mAh battery, wireless charging, non-certified parcel dimensioning and GMS.

The Zebra TC78 is a 5G rugged handheld built for workers who spend their day outdoors: couriers, route drivers, field service crews and yard teams. It replaces the TC77. This North America SKU is the Premium tier. It carries a sub-6 5G WWAN radio with CBRS private LTE support for US deployments, Wi-Fi 6E for indoor sites, and Bluetooth 5.2. SIM options are one nano SIM and one eSIM. A Qualcomm 6490 octa-core processor at 2.7 GHz runs with 8GB RAM and 128GB UFS flash. A microSD slot takes cards up to 2 TB.

The SE55 1D/2D Advanced Range scan engine with IntelliFocus reads barcodes in hand and out to 40 ft (12.2 m). The Premium camera package adds a 16MP autofocus rear camera with optical image stabilization, an 8MP front camera and a Time-of-Flight sensor. Here the sensor is configured for non-certified parcel dimensioning. The 6.0-inch Full HD+ display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and works wet, gloved or with a conductive stylus.

The unit weighs 12.3 oz (349 g) with the standard battery. Zebra rates it for multiple 10 ft drops to concrete per MIL-STD 810H, 2,000 tumbles at 3.3 ft, and IP65/IP68 sealing. The 4680 mAh standard battery supports true hot swap, fast charging and PowerPrecision+ battery metrics, and this SKU is wireless charging enabled.

For IT teams, the device runs Android with Google Mobile Services and supports Zebra Zero-Touch and StageNow provisioning, LifeGuard for Android security updates, OEMConfig and Secure Boot. It is TAA compliant. Zebra publishes a spec sheet, product reference guide and accessory guide for the TC73/TC78 family.
