Overview

The Opengear ACM7004-2-L-GLB is a compact ACM7000 Resilience Gateway for out-of-band management at small and remote sites. It provides 4 RJ45 RS-232 Cisco straight-pinout console ports, 4 USB 2.0 console ports and two 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports. An embedded global Sierra Wireless EM7565 Cat-12 4G LTE modem with 2 SIM slots gives administrators an alternate access path when the primary link is down. It supports Failover to Cellular and Lighthouse management.

The Opengear ACM7004-2-L-GLB is a small form-factor console server from the ACM7000 Resilience Gateway family. It is built for IT teams that need always-on access to routers, switches, firewalls and servers at retail stores, bank branches and ATMs, regional offices and industrial sites. Network gear connects directly through 4 RJ45 RS-232 console ports using the Cisco straight pinout, at 50 to 230,400 bps, plus 4 USB 2.0 console ports for devices with USB management interfaces.

For resilience, the unit pairs two 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports with an integrated global 4G LTE card. The card is a Sierra Wireless EM7565 Cat-12 module, rated up to 600 Mbps down and 150 Mbps up, with 2 SIM slots. Opengear lists it as AT&T and Verizon certified, with PTCRB and GCF approvals. Automatic network failover, Ethernet aggregation and redundancy, and IPv6 keep the management plane reachable when the production WAN is not.

Security follows enterprise practice. It includes a FIPS 140-2 validated OpenSSL module, AES encryption, Cisco-compatible IPsec and OpenVPN. AAA options cover TACACS+, RADIUS, Active Directory/OpenLDAP and Kerberos with local fallback. There is also two-factor authentication via remote AAA and a configurable stateful firewall. Console management includes a built-in web terminal, SSH direct to consoles, optional keystroke logging, alerts on cable disconnects and text-pattern matches, and multiple concurrent sessions.

For rollout at scale, the unit offers ZTP, the Lighthouse RESTful API, Auto-Response, SNMP, LLDP and NTP. Built-in digital I/O and high-voltage outputs support water, smoke and motion sensors and can drive relays or alarms. Inside is an 800 MHz ARMv7 SoC with 256 MB DDR3 and 4 GB NAND storage. The unit measures 5 1/8 x 4 3/4 x 1 3/8 in, and power comes from a 110-240V AC to 12V DC external adapter. The box includes a rack mount ear, antennas and a cellular extension kit, with the datasheet, Quick Start Guide and User Manual available.
