Overview

The Vertiv Avocent ACS8032-NA-DAC-400 is a 32-port advanced serial console server with an integrated 4G LTE Cat 4 modem for AT&T and Verizon. It consolidates secure in-band and out-of-band access to dense racks of network, server and power equipment. It fails over automatically from Gigabit Ethernet to cellular and uses dual-entry redundant AC supplies. Two SFP fiber ports, eight USB 2.0 ports and environmental sensor inputs are housed in a 1.75 in high, TAA-compliant rack chassis.

The Vertiv Avocent ACS8032-NA-DAC-400 is the 32-port, North American cellular model in the Avocent ACS8000 advanced serial console family. It is aimed at data center, colocation and NOC teams consolidating console access for multiple racks behind one secure management gateway. That access stays up through partial or total outages of the production network.

Thirty-two RS-232 ports on RJ45 connect to downstream console ports. The first two ports are selectable between RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485, and automatic Cyclades and Cisco pin-out conversion means no adapters. The integrated 4G LTE Cat 4 modem, with 3G fallback and a 2FF mini SIM slot, supports LTE bands B2, B4, B5, B12, B13, B14, B66 and B71 for AT&T and Verizon. The cellular link can be the primary out-of-band connection or automatic failover from the two Gigabit RJ45 Ethernet and two Gigabit SFP fiber interfaces.

A 1-wire environmental sensor port and four digital inputs for smoke, leak, pressure and dry-contact sensors let the unit act as a single-IP IoT gateway. Auto-discovery and native command settings streamline management of Vertiv equipment. The unit also supports rack PDUs from Vertiv, ServerTech, APC, Raritan and Eaton and Vertiv GXT4 and GXT5 UPS systems. Eight USB 2.0 ports and a full-size SD card slot round out the I/O.

Customizable and preset security profiles and multiple access levels help align with data center access policies. An embedded cryptographic module based on a FIPS 140-2 validated module protects management sessions. Time-stamped online and offline logging aids compliance and troubleshooting. Zero-Touch Provisioning and Avocent DSView integration support fleet-scale rollout. Internal dual-entry, redundant 100–240 VAC supplies draw 35 W maximum, and the -400 suffix designates TAA compliance.
