Vertiv Avocent ACS8048 48-Port Cellular Serial Console Server with 4G LTE, Dual AC Power, TAA

The Vertiv Avocent ACS8048-NA-DAC-400 is the 48-port, North American cellular model in the Avocent ACS8000 advanced serial console family, and 48 ports is the maximum the series offers. It is designed for enterprise data center, hyperscale and colocation teams who want to bring a large estate of console ports behind one secure management gateway. That gateway remains reachable during partial or total outages of the production network.

Forty-eight RS-232 ports on RJ45 connect to downstream devices. The first two ports are selectable between RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485, and automatic Cyclades and Cisco pin-out conversion eliminates adapters. The integrated 4G LTE Cat 4 modem with 3G fallback and a 2FF mini SIM slot supports LTE bands B2, B4, B5, B12, B13, B14, B66 and B71 for AT&T and Verizon. It can carry primary out-of-band traffic or take over automatically from the two Gigabit RJ45 Ethernet and two Gigabit SFP fiber interfaces.

The unit doubles as a single-IP IoT gateway through a 1-wire environmental sensor port and four digital inputs for smoke, leak, pressure and dry-contact sensors. Auto-discovery and native command settings cover Vertiv equipment. Support extends to rack PDUs from Vertiv, ServerTech, APC, Raritan and Eaton and to Vertiv GXT4 and GXT5 UPS systems. Eight USB 2.0 ports and a full-size SD card slot are also provided.

Customizable and preset security profiles, multiple access levels and an embedded cryptographic module based on a FIPS 140-2 validated module support strict access policies. Time-stamped online and offline data logging supports compliance and troubleshooting. Zero-Touch Provisioning and Avocent DSView integration keep large rollouts manageable. Internal dual-entry, redundant 100–240 VAC supplies draw 35 W maximum, and the -400 suffix designates TAA compliance.
