Eaton Tripp Lite B098-016-V 16-Port Console Server with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Dual GbE and SD Card

The Eaton Tripp Lite series B098-016-V is a 16-port serial console server for data rooms, wiring closets, branch offices and other sites with a dense stack of network and power equipment. It provides secure in-band and out-of-band remote access to routers, network switches, firewalls, PBX systems, UPS systems and PDUs, so faults can be diagnosed and resolved without a site visit.

The console server offers three connection paths. Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports provide a primary connection with automatic failover, and SFP and RJ45 connectors appear among its network ports. A built-in 4G LTE modem with dual SIM slots delivers out-of-band access. Wi-Fi operates in either client or access point (WAP) mode. The 16 console ports use standard Cat5e/6 patch cable to connect to Cisco devices. Two USB ports, 16Gb of flash and an SD card slot provide local connectivity and storage. Management is available through a GUI or CLI, and the unit integrates with TACACS+, RADIUS, LDAP and Kerberos directory servers.

Security support includes PCI DSS 3.2, an embedded FIPS 140-2 validated OpenSSL module (Certificate #2473), SSL and SSH, a stateful firewall, and OpenVPN and IPSec VPN. An embedded DHCP server can host a separate management LAN. PowerMan and Network UPS Tools support remote PDU control and UPS monitoring.

The metal chassis measures 17 x 10 x 1.75 in and weighs 10 lb. It mounts in a 1U space in a 19-inch rack or sits on a desktop. Dual IEC-320-C14 power inputs provide redundancy, and the unit draws 15 W. The package includes two 6 ft C13 to NEMA 5-15P cords, two 4G swivel-blade antennas, a 2.4 GHz SMA Wi-Fi antenna, a 10 ft magnetic-base antenna extender, Cisco-pinout serial adapters and loopbacks, and two 6 ft Cat5 patch cables. The unit is TAA compliant and carries a 2-year limited warranty.
