Overview

The Lantronix E228G004S is the Asia Pacific variant of the E220 Series industrial router. It connects on LTE Cat-4 bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8 and 28, with 3G fallback on bands 1, 5 and 8 and 2G fallback on bands 3 and 8. This band set targets Asia Pacific networks rather than US carriers. It pairs 2T2R Wi-Fi 4 with WAN/LAN Ethernet, isolated RS-485 and two digital I/Os, and runs on a wide 10.8–60 V DC supply.

The Lantronix E228G004S is an Asia Pacific market router from the E220 Series, built for mission-critical M2M and enterprise applications. Its LTE Cat-4 radio covers bands B1, B3, B5, B7, B8 and B28, with 3G fallback on bands 1, 5 and 8 and 2G fallback on bands 3 and 8. These bands suit Asia Pacific deployments, and the unit is not intended for US carrier networks. Cellular can serve as the primary link or as automatic failover behind a wired connection. Lantronix quotes failover speeds of up to 150 Mbps on LTE Cat-4. There are two SMA cellular antenna connectors, one LAN port and one WAN port (10/100, RJ-45), and the WAN port can switch to a second LAN. The 2T2R 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi radio on 2.4 GHz uses two RP-SMA connectors, delivers up to 300 Mbps, and supports client or access point mode with multiple SSIDs for about 40 users. Load balancing lets you allocate bandwidth to critical equipment. An isolated RS-485 port with full- and half-duplex modes and two digital I/Os connect sensors and third-party devices.

The OpenWrt-based ePack software provides OpenVPN client/server, IPsec, L2TP, GRE and PPTP client. It also includes a zone-based firewall, VLAN, DMZ, HTTPS management, SIM PIN, and Modbus RTU-to-TCP with Modbus master. Units can be updated and configured over the air or by SMS, managed via TR-069, and monitored with real-time CPU and interface analysis.

The brushed-aluminum, DIN-rail-mountable housing measures 61.25 x 85.75 x 24.5 mm and operates from -30 °C to +70 °C. Its roadworthy 10.8–60 V DC input complies with ISO 7637-2 and ISO 21848. Lantronix publishes an E220 Series User Guide and product brief.
