Overview

The Lantronix EMG 7500 (EMG751001S) is a compact edge management gateway and console server for branch offices, retail stores and unmanned sites. This configuration has 4 RJ45 RS-232 serial device ports, 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports and an internal LTE cellular radio with a microSIM slot. When the primary network is congested or down, the gateway fails over to LTE so you can still reach routers, switches and firewalls, and it fails back when the primary link returns. It is managed with Lantronix Percepxion for Networking and carries a 3-year warranty.

The Lantronix EMG 7500 is the compact member of the EMG family of edge management gateways. It is built for branch offices, retail stores and unmanned locations such as ATMs and cell towers, where space and cost matter and only a few devices need console access. The EMG751001S configuration provides 4 RJ45 RS-232 serial device ports running at 300 to 921600 bps, 2 Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports, an RJ45 console port, a USB Type A host port and a microSD slot, in a 163 x 145 x 43 mm chassis.

Out-of-band access runs over the internal LTE cellular radio. An automatic failover and failback mechanism keeps your network equipment reachable when the primary connection is congested or unresponsive. Lantronix states that all global carriers are supported, with Private APN, VPN access and public or private IP addressing. Cisco-compatible IP SLA simulation traffic monitors network performance so problems are caught before a site goes dark.

Security covers TLS 1.0 through 1.3, a packet-filtering firewall, per-port user permissions, and remote authentication through LDAP/AD, RADIUS, Kerberos, TACACS+ and NIS. Cryptography is FIPS 140-2 compliant (Certificate #2398). Each port buffers 256 KB and can log to local files, syslog, USB, SD card or an NFS share, and character-string recognition can trigger email, SNMP or syslog alerts.

For fleet operations, the gateway works with Lantronix Percepxion for Networking, which provides centralized monitoring, zero-touch provisioning and iOS and Android app access. Secure REST APIs and Python scripting support automation. The unit ships with a desktop power supply, also accepts an external 9-30 VDC feed, and draws 20 W.
