Overview

The TP-Link Omada ER706W-4G (hardware V1) is an all-in-one business gateway. It combines a 4G+ Cat6 LTE modem with a Nano SIM slot for up to 300 Mbps downlink, AX3000 dual-band Wi-Fi 6, and six Gigabit ports including an SFP WAN/LAN port. It supports IPsec, SSL, WireGuard, OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP VPNs, load balancing and link backup. It can be managed standalone, through the Omada app or centrally through Omada SDN controllers.

The TP-Link Omada ER706W-4G is a 4G+ Cat6 VPN router for small offices, retail sites and branches that want LTE, Wi-Fi 6 and wired routing in one desktop or wall-mount unit. Insert a Nano SIM for LTE at up to 300 Mbps down and 50 Mbps up. The V1 hardware supports US LTE bands B2/4/5/7/12/13/14/25/26/29/30/66/71 and TDD B41/B48, plus EU bands, with carrier aggregation. TP-Link notes it is not compatible with AT&T's Text & Data plans in the US.

The router's AX3000 dual-band Wi-Fi 6 delivers 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz with HE160 and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. It supports OFDMA, MU-MIMO, beamforming, WPA3 and up to 16 SSIDs, broadcast through three detachable dual-band antennas. Two detachable 4.0dBi LTE antennas handle the cellular side. Wired connectivity comes from 1 Gigabit SFP WAN/LAN port, 1 Gigabit WAN port and 4 Gigabit LAN/WAN ports. Intelligent load balancing and link backup let fixed broadband and LTE work together.

A dual-core ARM Cortex-A53 with 512 MB DDR4 handles 150,000 concurrent sessions. It delivers up to 670.5 Mbps IPsec throughput and 387.7 Mbps WireGuard. VPN capacity includes 100 IPsec tunnels, 55 OpenVPN tunnels, 50 SSL VPN tunnels and 20 WireGuard tunnels. Security features include signature-based IPS/IDS, DPI application control, URL filtering, flood defense and IP-MAC binding. The unit also has 4 kV lightning protection.

The router integrates with Omada SDN for centralized management through the Omada Cloud-Based Controller (subscription required), OC200/OC300 hardware controllers or Omada Software Controller. Management options also include the Omada app, zero-touch provisioning with the cloud controller, SD-WAN in Controller Mode, captive portal and SNMP. The package includes the router, a power adapter and a Quick Installation Guide, and TP-Link publishes a datasheet for the V1 model.
