Overview

The InHand Networks IG502-FQ33-IO-W-G is the fully equipped North America configuration of the IG502 programmable edge gateway. It combines 4G LTE Cat 1 on bands B2/B4/B5/B12/B13/B25/B26 with dual SIM failover and 4 DI + 4 DO isolated I/O. It adds 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (client mode) with Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS positioning. It also has two 10/100 Ethernet ports, RS-232 and RS-485 serial, USB and microSD. The gateway supports Python development and optional DSA with 80+ industrial protocols, so it can collect, process and forward data from remote assets.

The IG502-FQ33-IO-W-G is InHand Networks' IG502 edge gateway with every option except the D485 serial variant. It uses the FQ33 North America LTE Cat 1 module on bands B2/B4/B5/B12/B13/B25/B26 with dual Micro SIM failover. It is aimed at integrators and OEMs who want one compact device for data acquisition, discrete I/O, location and backup connectivity.

The -IO option provides 4 digital inputs and 4 digital outputs with 3000 VDC isolation for alarms, contacts and simple control. The -W option adds 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi in station (client) mode plus Bluetooth 4.2 (BLE). Wi-Fi gives the gateway a backup uplink when a site network is available. The -G option adds GPS satellite positioning for mobile or widely distributed assets. Standard interfaces include two 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports, 1× RS-232 plus 1× RS-485 on a terminal block, USB 2.0 Type-A and microSD up to 32GB.

An ARM Cortex-A8 at 600MHz with 512MB RAM and 8GB eMMC runs custom Linux and a Python development environment. The optional DeviceSupervisor (DSA) normalizes data from Modbus, OPC UA, EtherNet/IP, IEC101/104, DNP3.0, BACnet and other protocols. It can forward that data to AWS, Azure and other cloud platforms. DeviceLive handles remote access, batch operations and upgrades. A firewall, OpenVPN, IPsec VPN, a hardware watchdog and heartbeat-based auto-redial support unattended operation.

The fanless IP30 metal housing measures 110 × 127 × 35 mm and weighs 420 g. It mounts on a DIN rail or panel and runs from 12-48V DC. Because this model includes Wi-Fi, its operating range is -20 °C to 70 °C.
