Overview

The InHand Networks IG902-H-FS39-IO-W-G is a programmable industrial edge gateway built for North American sites. It combines an LTE Cat 6 modem and dual-SIM backup with two Gigabit Ethernet ports, RS-232/RS-485 and RS-485 serial, isolated digital I/O, dual-band Wi-Fi and GPS/BeiDou. An ARM Cortex-A8 processor with 1GB DDR3 and 8GB eMMC runs Python and Docker workloads at the edge. Optional DSA data acquisition covers Modbus, OPC UA, EtherNet/IP, DNP3.0, BACnet and other industrial protocols.

The IG902 is InHand Networks' high-performance edge gateway for complex industrial sites that need more than a cellular link. This configuration is the H (High) model with the FS39 module, which is North American LTE Cat 6 on LTE-FDD bands B2/B4/B5/B13/B17 with UMTS B2/B5. It adds isolated I/O, dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi and GNSS (GPS and BeiDou). Two drawer-type SIM slots provide dual-SIM backup. Wired, cellular and Wi-Fi links can back each other up, with heartbeat link detection, VRRP and an embedded watchdog for automatic recovery.

On the plant side, the gateway collects data from mixed equipment. It has 2 × 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet ports, 1 × RS-232/RS-485 plus 1 × RS-485 serial port, and 4 digital inputs, 3 digital outputs and 1 relay or digital/pulse output. The optional DSA supports Modbus RTU/TCP master and slave, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA client/server, Mitsubishi MC, FINS, IEC101/104, DNP3.0, DLT645-2007, BACnet and CNC. It can forward normalized data to Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS and other IoT platforms.

The ARM Cortex-A8 @1GHz, 1GB DDR3 and 8GB eMMC (plus microSD up to 32GB) give you room for pre-processing, rule evaluation and lightweight analytics. Custom logic can be deployed as Python applications or Docker containers on InHand's custom Linux. DeviceLive handles remote configuration, batch management and firmware upgrades. Security features include an SPI firewall, ACLs, NAT, IPsec, OpenVPN, GRE, L2TP and AAA via Local, RADIUS, TACACS+ or LDAP.

The fanless metal housing is rated IP30 and mounts on a DIN rail or wall. It runs on 12-48 V DC with reverse-polarity and overcurrent protection and operates from -25 °C to 70 °C.

How do I log in for the first time?

Install the antennas, insert the SIM with power off, then power on. Connect a computer to GE0/2, set it to DHCP or a 192.168.2.x address, and browse to https://192.168.2.1. Log in as adm with the password printed on the device nameplate. GE0/1 defaults to 192.168.1.1.

Do I need to configure the APN manually?

In most cases no. The IG902 auto-detects the carrier and applies the matching APN. If the link does not come up, set the APN under Network > Cellular. A steady MODEM LED means connected, and the three signal LEDs indicate poor, moderate or good signal.

What power and mounting does it need?

It accepts 12-48 V DC through an unpluggable industrial terminal, with reverse-polarity and overcurrent protection. It mounts on a DIN rail or wall and operates from -25 °C to 70 °C in a fanless IP30 metal housing.
