Overview

The InHand Networks IR315-FF39 is a multi-port industrial router for unattended sites and IoT networks in North America. It combines an LTE Cat 6 cellular module, including Bands 66 and 71, with dual Nano-SIM switching. It has five 10/100 Mbps RJ45 ports with 1.5 kV isolation and four configurable DI/DO channels. The router also supports OSPF, VRRP and a full VPN suite. The fanless IP30 metal enclosure mounts on a DIN rail and runs on 9-36V DC.

The IR315 is InHand Networks' multi-port industrial router for industrial and commercial IoT deployments that need several wired devices on one cellular uplink. The IR315-FF39 is the North American LTE Cat 6 configuration with I/O. Its cellular module includes LTE Bands 66 and 71. The FF39 holds PTCRB and IC certificates, and the IR315 family certifications include FCC, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, UL and C1D2. This base configuration has no Wi-Fi, serial or GNSS options. It uses the default I/O interface.

The five 10/100 Mbps RJ45 ports have 1.5 kV isolation-transformer protection and can be assigned as WAN, LAN or VLAN in Access or Trunk mode. The WAN port supports Static IP, DHCP, PPPoE and IP Passthrough. The four DI/DO channels support edge-triggered status reporting to the cloud. Dual Nano-SIMs share one drawer and switch on signal threshold, packet loss or dial-failure count. Link backup between cellular and wired WAN runs in hot-backup, cold-backup or load-balancing mode, with VRRP for gateway redundancy.

The router supports static and OSPF routing. VPN options are IPsec (IKEv1/IKEv2, AES256-SHA512, up to 10 tunnels), DMVPN, GRE, L2TP, PPTP, OpenVPN, WireGuard and ZeroTier. Security features include an SPI firewall, DoS protection, ACLs, 802.1x, IP-MAC binding, MAC filtering and signed firmware. Fleets can be managed through InHand Device Manager or InConnect. Local and scripted management uses SNMP v1/v2c/v3 with traps, SSH/Telnet, a local console and an HTTP/HTTPS API.

The fanless metal enclosure is rated IP30 and tested for shock, vibration and drop. It measures 127 x 108.2 x 35 mm and weighs 454 g. It operates from -35°C to 70°C, or -40°C to 75°C in the extended range. The IR315 datasheet is available.

Questions buyers ask

Does the IR315-FF39 include Wi-Fi or GNSS?

No. The IR315-FF39 is the North American LTE Cat 6 configuration with 4 x I/O. Wi-Fi is ordered with the -WLAN suffix, and GNSS with the -G suffix.

Can I have both serial ports and I/O?

No. On the IR315 the serial option (-S, 1 x RS-232 + 1 x RS-485) and the 4 x I/O interface are mutually exclusive. The IR315-FF39 uses the default I/O.

How do I set up cellular WAN failover?

With both links working, go to Network > Link Backup. Set WAN as the main link and cellular as the backup, then choose Hot Backup or Cold Backup. Set an ICMP detection server and click Apply.

Do I need to configure the APN manually?

In most cases, no. The IR315 auto-detects the carrier and applies the matching APN. If the link does not come up, set the APN under Network > Cellular. A steady green NET LED means the router is connected.

What is the default management address?

Connect a computer to a LAN port using DHCP or a 192.168.2.x static IP. Browse to http://192.168.2.1 and log in with the credentials printed on the device label.
