Overview

The InHand Networks IR315-FF39-WLAN is a North American LTE Cat 6 industrial router for unattended sites and IoT deployments. It combines dual Nano-SIM cellular with automatic SIM switching, five 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports, 2.4 GHz 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and four configurable digital I/O channels. The router sits in a fanless metal DIN-rail housing, runs on 9-36 VDC and operates from -35 °C to 70 °C. VPN options include IPsec, OpenVPN, WireGuard and ZeroTier, and fleets can be managed through InHand Device Manager.

The IR315-FF39-WLAN is the North American LTE Cat 6 configuration of InHand Networks' IR315 industrial router, with built-in Wi-Fi and four digital I/O channels. It suits system integrators, utilities, retail and kiosk operators, and field-operations teams who need dependable connectivity at cabinets, remote assets and small sites. The router can connect through cellular, wired WAN or Wi-Fi. Its dual Nano-SIM drawer switches carriers based on signal threshold, packet loss or dial failures. Link backup runs in hot, cold or load-balancing mode, and VRRP provides gateway redundancy.

Five 10/100 Mbps RJ45 ports, each with 1.5 kV isolation, can be assigned as WAN, LAN or VLAN. The 2.4 GHz 802.11b/g/n radio delivers up to 300 Mbps in AP, Client or WDS mode through two RP-SMA antenna connectors. The four DI/DO channels support edge-triggered status reporting to the cloud platform, so the router can monitor alarm contacts or switch field equipment.

Security covers SPI firewall, DoS protection, ACLs, 802.1x, IP-MAC binding, domain content filtering and signed firmware. VPN options are IPsec (IKEv1/IKEv2, AES256-SHA512, up to 10 tunnels), OpenVPN, WireGuard, ZeroTier, DMVPN, GRE, L2TP and PPTP. For management, you can use InHand Device Manager, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, an HTTP/HTTPS API, SSH, Syslog and SMS alarms.

The fanless metal enclosure is IP30-rated and DIN-rail mounted, measuring 127 × 108.2 × 35 mm and weighing 454 g. It accepts 9-36 VDC through a 2-pin industrial terminal with reverse-polarity and overcurrent protection. The IR315 family is tested to IEC shock, vibration and drop standards and to EN61000 EMC levels.

What does the IR315-FF39-WLAN part number include?

It is the North American LTE Cat 6 configuration with Wi-Fi and four configurable digital I/O channels. It does not include the RS-232/RS-485 serial option or GNSS.

Does the IR315 support dual SIM failover?

Yes. It has a drawer slot for two Nano-SIMs and switches SIMs based on signal threshold, packet loss threshold or dial failure count. It also supports cellular/WAN backup in hot, cold or load-balancing mode.

How do I log in for the first time?

Connect a computer to a LAN port and set the adapter to DHCP or a static IP in the 192.168.2.x range. Then browse to http://192.168.2.1 and log in with the credentials printed on the device label.

Do I need to set the APN manually?

In most cases, no. The IR315 detects the carrier and applies the matching APN from its built-in operator profiles, including AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. If the link does not come up, set the APN under Network > Cellular.

What power does it require?

It needs 9-36 VDC through a 2-pin industrial terminal with overcurrent and reverse-polarity protection. Operating draw is 150-320 mA at 12 V.
