Overview

The Lantronix M114B00FS is a compact LTE Cat 1 bis industrial modem from the M110 Series for connecting PLCs, meters, lifts and vending machines to your servers. It is the rest-of-world variant, covering LTE bands for EMEA, LATAM and India with 2G fallback, and is not a North American model. It provides full RS-232 on a 9-pin sub-D, USB 2.0 Type-C and two configurable I/Os. The modem draws 0.15 W worst-case at idle, runs Lantronix mPack software and supports Percepxion device management.

  • LTE Cat 1 bis (ROW bands B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B20, B28, B66, B38, B40, B41) with 2G fallback
  • Full RS-232 on 9-pin sub-D plus USB 2.0 Type-C; optional isolated RS-485 via SnapCap
  • Two configurable I/Os: 0-48 V DC 12-bit analogue input or 200 mA open-collector digital output
  • Low worst-case power: 0.15 W idle, 0.36 W standby, 0.65 W max transmit
  • 8-32 V DC input with slow start; compact 60 x 66 x 21.7 mm aluminum housing
  • mPack software with PPP dial-up, AT commands, TCP/UDP client/server and connectivity watchdog
  • Percepxion device management for remote configuration, console, telemetry and tunneling
  • Add cellular IP connectivity to legacy serial equipment without changing its firmware

The Lantronix M114B00FS is a small, low-power cellular modem for retrofitting serial equipment with an IP connection. Typical examples include electricity meters, PLCs, lifts, vending machines and POS kiosks. It is the ROW (rest of world) M114B, built for EMEA, LATAM and India on LTE Cat 1 bis bands B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B20, B28, B66, B38, B40 and B41 with 2G fallback. The antenna attaches through a single SMA connector. Certifications for the M114 bis are CE, UKCA, UL/CB and RCM, and Lantronix also publishes KC and NCC certificates for this SKU.

The housing is brushed aluminum and measures 60 x 66 x 21.7 mm without connectors, at about 95 g. Serial devices connect through full RS-232 on a 9-pin sub-D, and a host can use USB 2.0 over Type-C. The optional SnapCap accessory converts the RS-232 port to isolated RS-485 with half- or full-duplex operation and cable runs of up to 1.5 km. Two I/Os can each be set as a 0-48 V DC analogue input with 12-bit resolution or as an open-collector digital output rated at 200 mA and 50 V DC. The modem runs from 8-32 V DC with slow start. Worst-case figures for the M114B are 0.15 W idle, 0.36 W standby and 0.65 W at maximum transmit, which suits battery and solar installs.

The mPack software suite handles PPP dial-up, generic AT commands and mPack commands over RS-232 or USB. It also offers permanent TCP/UDP client or server modes and an on-demand client, with two sockets for failover and a network connectivity watchdog. Firmware updates run over the air from your own HTTP server. The M114B also integrates with Lantronix Percepxion for remote configuration, console access, telemetry and tunneling. Lantronix publishes a product brief, user guide, quick start guide and command references for the M110 Series, and the modem carries a two-year limited warranty.

Ideal for

  • Smart metering and utility data collection over LTE Cat 1 bis
  • Remote PLC and industrial automation access through RS-232 or RS-485
  • POS terminals, kiosks and vending machines needing a cellular IP link
  • Oil and gas or environmental monitoring on battery or solar power
