Compact ruggedized design for in-vehicle and field installs
TAA-compliant configuration

The Cradlepoint R980 is a compact, ruggedized 5G router engineered for vehicles, kiosks, and space-constrained field sites. Its integrated 5G NR modem falls back automatically to 4G LTE Advanced Pro, HSPA+, and UMTS, so connections stay up even where 5G coverage is thin. Dual SIM slots enable carrier redundancy and automatic failover, while dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax with 802.11k/r/v fast roaming) serves onboard clients. A Gigabit Ethernet LAN port, a Gigabit WAN/broadband port, and a USB port handle wired devices and peripherals.

This bundle pairs the hardware with a 5-year NetCloud Mobile Essentials + Advanced subscription. NetCloud Manager provides zero-touch provisioning, remote configuration, real-time health monitoring and alerting, and centrally managed firmware updates across your entire fleet, backed by 24x7 technical support. Hardware remains covered while the subscription is active, so one line item budgets the router, the software, and the support for 5 years. Because this SKU also includes the Advanced plan, your team gains extended enterprise capabilities layered on Essentials — including advanced routing options and richer security and traffic controls for more demanding deployments.

In the box: the R980 hardware with its standard accessories; the NetCloud subscription activates when the device is registered to your NetCloud account. This configuration is TAA-compliant, making it suitable for U.S. federal and public-sector procurement.
