The Lantronix NTC-224 is the North America variant of the NTC-220 Series 4G LTE Cat 1 industrial IoT router, designed for AT&T and T-Mobile networks. It covers LTE bands B2, B4 and B12. It has a 100Base-T Ethernet port and a software-selectable RS232/RS485/RS422 serial port. It also adds configurable I/O, ignition sensing and multi-constellation GNSS. All of this fits in a compact IP41 enclosure rated from -40°C to +70°C, with a DIN rail bracket included.
The Lantronix NTC-224 (MPN NTC-224-01-01) is the North American model of the NTC-220 Series, the 4G LTE Category 1 industrial IoT router line formerly sold under NetComm Industrial IoT. Lantronix designates it for AT&T and T-Mobile networks, with LTE bands B2, B4 and B12. Lantronix publishes FCC and ISED certificates for the NTC-224. It is a strong fit for US and Canadian telemetry, fleet and remote-site projects where a low-bandwidth, always-on link matters more than raw speed.
Connectivity is designed around field equipment. It has one 100Base-T Ethernet port and a DB-9 serial port that switches in software between 9-wire RS232 and RS485/RS422. The terminal block provides three multipurpose I/O pins covering NAMUR sensor input, 0-30V analogue input, digital input and open collector output, plus a dedicated ignition input. A Micro USB 2.0 OTG port connects local storage. The Modbus TCP/IP gateway supports up to 247 slaves, alongside Modbus RTU/ASCII framing, so existing PLCs and meters can report over LTE.
For mobile assets, the router offers: • GNSS covering GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS • An 8-40V DC input with ISO7637 vehicle protection • 6W power consumption
IPSec (up to 5 tunnels), OpenVPN, GRE and PPTP secure traffic, and VRRP adds router redundancy.
Every unit can be managed from headquarters over HTTPS, SSH, SNMP v1/v2/v3, TR-069, LWM2M or SMS. Firmware can be upgraded over the air. The Linux-based Lantronix OS and SDK support custom applications in C, Shell script and LUA. Lantronix provides a product brief, user guide, quick start guide and software developer guide for the series.
Lantronix designates the NTC-224 as its North America variant for AT&T and T-Mobile networks. It supports LTE Cat 1 bands B2, B4 and B12. For Verizon, the NTC-225 is the matching model.
On LTE FDD, peak speeds are up to 10 Mbps downlink and 5 Mbps uplink. That comfortably handles telemetry, SCADA, alarm and management traffic.
It has one 100Base-T Ethernet RJ45 port. It also has a DB-9 serial port (RS232 or RS485/RS422), a Micro USB 2.0 OTG port, three multipurpose I/O pins and an ignition input.
Yes. It supports HTTPS web management, SSH CLI, SNMP v1/v2/v3, TR-069 and LWM2M. It can also be queried, configured and commanded by SMS, and firmware can be upgraded over the air.
It runs on 8-40V DC through a 6-way terminal block and draws 6W, with a 12V 1.5A supply recommended. It mounts on a wall or on a TH 35 DIN rail using the included bracket.
