Overview

The HPE Aruba Networking 9004-LTE (US), part number R3V91A, is a compact, fanless branch gateway with an integrated Cat 12 LTE module for primary or backup WAN. It provides four 100/1000BASE-T ports and supports up to 2,048 clients and 32 access points with up to 6 Gbps of firewall throughput. It runs as an SD-Branch gateway or a wireless mobility controller under HPE Aruba Networking Central. This is the US-only model.

The 9004-LTE is the LTE-equipped member of the HPE Aruba Networking 9000 Series. It is built for small enterprise branches and small campuses that want routing, SD-WAN, security and wireless control in one cloud-managed box. R3V91A is the US model; R3V90A is the rest-of-world version. Its integrated Cat 12 LTE module can serve as a dedicated WAN uplink or as a redundant link for business continuity, and LTE operations are managed through HPE Aruba Networking Central.

The gateway supports up to 2,048 users or client devices and up to 32 access points, with up to 6 Gbps of firewall throughput. A built-in Layer 4-7 stateful policy enforcement firewall applies consistent user, device and application awareness across WLAN, LAN and WAN. Dynamic Segmentation assigns role-based policies automatically, replacing hand-built VLANs, ACLs and subnets. Deep packet inspection covers more than 3,800 applications. In SD-WAN mode, the gateway adds role- and identity-based IDS/IPS, dynamic traffic steering, per-uplink visibility and one-click integration with third-party cloud security. As a mobility controller, it provides WLAN and LAN services with live upgrades; that mode cannot run at the same time as SD-WAN.

Deployment is designed for sites with little or no local IT. Zero-touch provisioning and a mobile installer app let on-site staff onboard the gateway while central IT confirms location, licensing and status. The gateway supports N+1 or NxN redundancy and clustering for high availability. It also includes an IoT radio with BLE support. WLAN and SD-WAN deployments use HPE Aruba Networking Central subscription licences.

The unit is a fanless desktop design with an optional rack-mount tray. It runs from a 12 V DC, 2.5 A adapter and draws a maximum of 25 W with USB. Hardware carries a 1-year parts and labor warranty, and gateway software carries 90 days; both can be extended with a support contract.
