Overview

The Teltonika RUTC54 is a global 5G edge router built around a Telit FN990A28 Sub-6 GHz modem (SA/NSA, up to 3.4 Gbps downlink) for North America, EMEA and APAC. It pairs dual SIM slots and an eSIM with automatic failover, dual-band Wi-Fi 6 for up to 512 users, five gigabit Ethernet ports, GNSS and a TPM 2.0 module. It runs RutOS with Docker support and is managed centrally through Teltonika RMS. This SKU (RUTC54000000) ships in the standard package with a US 24 W power supply and a full antenna set.

The Teltonika RUTC54 is a 5G router for edge computing, designed for organisations that run connectivity across many sites and need it to stay up without sending an engineer. Its Telit FN990A28 global 5G modem supports Sub-6 GHz 5G in SA and NSA modes with 4x4 MIMO, up to 3.4 Gbps downlink and 900 Mbps uplink, and falls back to LTE Cat 19 and 3G. This hardware version covers North America, EMEA and APAC across a wide band list, including n41, n71 and n77 on 5G, and B12, B13, B14, B66 and B71 on LTE.

Continuity comes from two Mini SIM slots plus an eSIM holding up to seven profiles. The router switches automatically on weak signal, data or SMS limits, roaming, network denial, connection failure and more, and SIM idle protection keeps the backup SIM active. Wired WAN, Wi-Fi WAN and mobile links can each act as automatic failover, or be load balanced. Eco-system extras include band lock, multiple PDN, IP passthrough and framed routing behind the 5G UE.

On the LAN side, dual-band Wi-Fi 6 with MU-MIMO reaches 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and supports up to 512 simultaneous connections, alongside one gigabit WAN and four gigabit LAN ports. Docker containers run directly on the router, and industrial protocols such as Modbus, OPC UA, BACnet, DNP3 and DLMS/COSEM are built in, as are GNSS positioning with geofencing, a digital input and output, and a USB port.

Security and management are thorough: TPM 2.0, 802.1x, VLANs, attack prevention and an extensive VPN suite including IPsec, OpenVPN, WireGuard, DMVPN, ZeroTier and Tailscale. RMS remote management, zero-touch deployment, SNMP, TR-069 and a Web API make the RUTC54 a fit for centrally managed industrial and distributed networks. It operates from -40 °C to 75 °C on 9-50 VDC or passive PoE.

Which regions does the RUTC54000000 support?

This hardware version is built for North America, EMEA and APAC. It supports 5G NR bands including n2, n5, n41, n66, n71 and n77, LTE bands including B2, B4, B12, B13, B14, B66 and B71, plus 3G fallback. This SKU ships with a US 24 W power supply.

Does the eSIM include a data plan?

No. The RUTC54 supports a consumer-type eSIM with profile download and removal and up to 7 profiles, but no data plan is included. You add eSIM profiles or physical SIMs from your chosen carrier.

How does SIM failover work on the RUTC54?

The router has two Mini SIM slots and an eSIM. It can switch automatically on weak signal, data limit, SMS limit, roaming, no network, network denied or data connection failure, and SIM idle protection periodically uses the backup SIM so it stays active. Wired and Wi-Fi WAN can also serve as automatic failover.

Can I run my own applications on the router?

Yes. RutOS supports Docker containers, so you can run isolated applications and microservices directly on the RUTC54. Custom Lua scripting, a Web API and JSON-RPC are also available.

What is included in the box?

The standard package includes the RUTC54 router, a US 24 W power supply, four 5G mobile antennas, three magnetic-mount Wi-Fi antennas, one adhesive GNSS antenna, a 1.5 m Ethernet cable, a SIM adapter kit and a Quick Start Guide.
