Overview

The Teltonika RUTM20 is an ultra-compact 5G router for space-limited IoT and IIoT installs such as POS, surveillance and transport. This Global hardware version (RUTM20100300) uses a Telit FN990A28 5G modem covering North American, EMEA and APAC bands. It pairs two Mini SIM slots with an eSIM for automatic failover and remote carrier switching. It adds PoE input and output for single-cable installs, dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and two gigabit Ethernet ports, and ships with a US power supply and antennas.

The Teltonika RUTM20 brings 5G to deployments where size and cost matter. At 100 x 30 x 93.7 mm and 319 g in an anodised aluminium housing, it fits into point-of-sale counters, camera enclosures, kiosks and vehicles. This SKU, RUTM20100300, is the Global hardware version built around a Telit FN990A28 modem with North American, EMEA and APAC band support. It comes in the standard package with a US power supply, four 5G mobile antennas and two Wi-Fi antennas.

The cellular side is 5G Sub-6 GHz SA/NSA (3GPP Release 16) with up to 3.4 Gbps downlink over 4x4 MIMO and up to 900 Mbps uplink. It falls back to LTE Cat 19 (1.6 Gbps downlink) and 3G. Two Mini SIM (2FF) slots and an eSIM holding up to seven profiles support automatic switching on weak signal, data or SMS limits, roaming, no network, network denial or data connection failure. You can change carriers remotely instead of sending someone to site. The eSIM does not include data plans.

Installation is straightforward. The WAN port accepts 802.3af/at or passive PoE (18–50 VDC), and the LAN port supplies 802.3af/at PoE out at up to 30 W, so one cable can power both the router and a camera or access point. The router also runs from 9–50 VDC through a 4-pin industrial connector. It operates from -40 °C to 75 °C, and dual-band Wi-Fi 5 supports up to 150 users.

RutOS, Teltonika's OpenWrt-based operating system, provides the software stack. It covers BGP and OSPF routing, WireGuard, OpenVPN, IPsec, Tailscale and ZeroTier VPNs, and TPM 2.0 security. Industrial protocols include Modbus, BACnet, OPC UA, DNP3 and DLMS. Fleets can be managed centrally through Teltonika RMS.

Questions buyers ask

Does the RUTM20100300 support US carrier bands?

Yes. This Global hardware version covers 5G bands including n2, n5, n25, n41, n66, n71 and n77, plus LTE bands such as B2, B4, B5, B12, B13, B14, B66 and B71. It ships with a US power supply. Note that 5G bands n12, n13, n14, n18, n26, n29 and n76 are disabled by default.

Does the eSIM come with a data plan?

No. The consumer-type eSIM supports downloading and removing up to seven carrier profiles, but data plans are not included.

Can the RUTM20 be powered over Ethernet?

Yes. The WAN port accepts 802.3af/at PoE or passive PoE from 18–50 VDC. The LAN port can also supply 802.3af/at PoE out at up to 30 W, depending on how the router itself is powered.

How fast is the cellular connection?
