Overview

The Ubiquiti Dream Router 5G Max (UDR-5G-Max-US) is a desktop UniFi Cloud Gateway with an integrated full-performance 5G modem rated up to 3.4 Gbps. It combines tri-band Wi-Fi 7, a 10G SFP+ port, a four-port 2.5 GbE switch with one PoE port, and a pre-installed 64 GB microSD card for NVR recording. It runs the UniFi Network, Protect, Access, Talk and Connect applications, supports 30+ UniFi devices and 300+ users, and delivers 2.3 Gbps IDS/IPS throughput.

The Dream Router 5G Max puts a complete UniFi site in one desktop enclosure: gateway, firewall, Wi-Fi 7 access point, 2.5 GbE switch, camera NVR and 5G modem. It suits small offices, retail locations, clinics and remote sites that want 5G as a primary or failover WAN without separate hardware. The US model is certified with AT&T and T-Mobile. T-Mobile Home Internet SIMs are not supported and a data-only plan is required, and Verizon is not supported at this time.

The cellular modem is 5G NR Sub-6, with 28 5G bands, 31 LTE bands and 3G UMTS. Peak downlink is 3.4 Gbps on 5G NSA, 1.8 Gbps on 5G SA and 1.6 Gbps on LTE. It supports dual Nano-SIM with an eSIM option. Wired WAN is handled by default through one 10G SFP+ and one 2.5 GbE port, with up to four WAN ports, multi-WAN load balancing and OSPF.

The tri-band Wi-Fi 7 radio (2x2 on 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz) reaches up to 5.7 Gbps on 6 GHz and covers about 160 m² (1,750 ft²). Security includes a stateful and Layer 7 application-aware firewall, zone-based filtering, content filtering, ad blocking and IDS/IPS at 2.3 Gbps, with 20,000+ signatures available through CyberSecure. VPN options include license-free SD-WAN, Site Magic, IPsec, WireGuard, OpenVPN, L2TP and Teleport.

A quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 at 1.5 GHz with 3 GB of memory runs the UniFi application suite, which manages up to five HD, two 2K or one 4K camera through Protect. A 4.7-inch touchscreen, the included 54 V power adapter and NDAA compliance complete the package.

Questions buyers ask

Which carriers does the Dream Router 5G Max support?

It is certified with AT&T and T-Mobile. T-Mobile Home Internet SIMs are not supported, and a data-only plan is required. Verizon is not supported at this time; Ubiquiti expects direct SIM/eSIM activation for Verizon in a future update.

What wired ports does it have?

One 10G SFP+ port (10G/1G) and four 2.5 GbE RJ45 ports (2.5G/1G/100M), one of which supplies PoE with a 15.4 W budget. By default, the SFP+ port and one 2.5 GbE port act as WAN ports, and up to four WAN ports are supported.

Can it record security cameras?

Yes. It runs UniFi Protect with a pre-installed 64 GB microSD card for NVR recording, and manages up to five HD, two 2K or one 4K camera.
