About This Device
Most businesses discover the value of backup WAN during their first extended outage — when the POS is down, cloud apps are unreachable, and the cost of a dead circuit becomes a per-hour number. The UniFi 5G Backup packages the remedy at an entry price: a compact 5G modem dedicated to failover duty for UniFi gateway sites in the US.
The design philosophy is deliberate minimalism. This is not a primary-WAN performance device like the U5G-Max; it is connectivity insurance, sized and priced so that attaching it to every site is an easy decision. Deployed with a UniFi gateway, it provides the cellular path the gateway fails over to automatically when the wired circuit drops — and fails back from when service is restored. To users on site, an outage becomes a brief hiccup rather than a work stoppage.
Because it lives in the UniFi ecosystem, operational overhead stays near zero: the modem is set up and monitored through the UniFi console alongside the gateway, switches, and access points, with cellular service arranged through the device's supported activation path. There is no second vendor portal and no separate management stack to learn.
Attach the UniFi 5G Backup to retail sites protecting card processing, offices dependent on cloud applications, and any UniFi deployment where the wireline circuit is a single point of failure worth eliminating.
